Washington County Hospital has a modern 24-hours-a-day Emergency Department staffed by dedicated ER providers who are well trained in treating trauma and acutely ill patients. Provider coverage is provided through MEDS, Midwest Emergency Department Services from O’Fallon, IL. All age groups are served and no patient is denied assessment.
Services include initial triage and assessment, urgent and emergency care for illness, injury and trauma, stabilization for transfer to tertiary treatment centers, and referrals to other levels of care, including hospital admission. The decision to transfer is made by the provider in consultation with the patient and/ or family.
Emergency Room nurses and providers are trained in CPR, trauma nursing and critical care, pediatric emergencies, and certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
